Project Gutenberg is the first and the largest single collection of free electronic books, or eBooks. Michael Hart, founder of Project Gutenberg, invented eBooks in 1971 and continues to inspire the creation of eBooks and
related technologies today. All of their books can be downloaded for FREE because their copywrite has expired.
Books-On-Line is a directory of books posted on the Internet and available for you to download at no charge along with new books being published. There are almost 60,000 books listed and MOST of them are FREE!
Besides BOOKS, you can download thousands of Air Force publications, popular movie scripts, and (my favorite) a list of the ten most important books of the millennium. Sign up for the free newsletter. It will keep you informed about what is available for you to download. This is NOT a link you will want to publish for students. Like any public library, there are all kinds of books available. Many of them are not appropriate for Christian schools or young students. This source is for the teacher, only!

If people want to buy your books, they can go to the site and order what they want. What a wonderful way to teach writing in your classroom!
Young students can get their poetry juices flowing with the Poetry Idea Engine. This activity that will allow them to write a haiku, free verse, limericks, etc. You can use it to teach types of poetry or let your students practice writing on the computer.
The Best Free Writing Software is NOT a link that will take you to a software program to help you teach writing or a game to make writing fun. It is an article about writing documents. Skip down to the sections titled, The Best Free Writing Software. Each of these applications has its own strengths and weaknesses. Although it is possible that you will find one that does absolutely everything you want it to do, you will likely have to accept a bit of compromise. You might want to try several applications for a few days each and see which one works the best. Sometimes two applications can have the exact same features, but one just feels better for some reason. You want to be comfortable when you are writing, so make sure you take the time to fully explore the software you will use.
